Shanghai or Beijing may have become westernized with cars zipping in and out through downtown and industrial areas; however, suburbs and rural China is still developing. The roads are bumpy and sometimes, there are no roads at all. No wonder, the most popular and perfect mode of transport is the bicycle. A cycling tour in China along the ancient Great Wall of China, the Buddhist shrines, the monasteries in the mountains and the historical places have become a rage with tourists as well as locals. It is affordable, oriental and you can find cheap lodging in villages and towns, eliminating the need for camping, which may not be safe for westerners. A private cycling tour allows you to stop at historical sites and interesting villages, as well as take photographs or stop to taste the delicious cuisine at a local restaurant. Small group tours for westerners are designed depending on their cycling ability and adventure quotient.
