For the betterment of economically and socially underprivileged students, UT education Department started extra coaching classes in Government High School, Sector 23 and Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 33.
According to Education Department Officials, the aim of the entire concept is to enhance academic potential of those students who lack financial support.
Ashwani Kumar, DPI, schools, informed, "We registered 150 students for GMSSS-33 and we are hopeful that more students will soon join these classes. Our aim is to help underprivileged students who look resources. We want them to achieve their educational goals irrespective of the financial standing of their parents or guardians. We will provide them facilities and ensure that they don't lag behind.
These classes will be conducted from July 20, 2006 to August 19, 2006. There will be extra classes during winter session too, from December 15, 2006 to Feb 28, 2007. Duration of these classes is two hours and will be conducted from 3 pm to 5 pm. Plans are also afoot for holding classes for class 11th and 12th.
It started off with this programme at only government schools for now but there is a possibility of expanding this to other schools. |
