| Drug rehabilitation tends to address a stated twofold nature of drug dependency: physical and psychological dependency. Physical dependency involves a detoxification process to cope with withdrawal symptoms from regular use of a drug. With regular use of many drugs, legal or otherwise, the brain gradually adapts to the presence of the drug so the desired effect is minimal. Apparently normal functioning of the user may be observed, despite being under the influence of the drug. This is how physical tolerance develops to drugs such as heroin, amphetamines, cocaine, nicotine or alcohol. It also explains why more of the drug is needed to get the same effect with regular use. The abrupt cessation of taking a drug can lead to withdrawal symptoms where the body may take weeks or months to return to normal. |

The effects drugs and alcohol have on our society are disastrous. Millions of lives have been ruined, and many lives ended before their time. Careers and jobs have been lost, people have been injured or debilitated, savings have been squandered, families have broken up, and some have lost everything they have--including their sons or daughters.
Our overcrowded prisons are filled with offenders whose crimes involved drugs. Many of them were on drugs when they committed those crimes--and often the crime was committed to support their own drug habit.
But drug addiction and dependency are not happening just to the stereotypical "drug addict". People from all walks of life, and at all ages, are falling prey to drugs.
In such cases drug rehab is direly needed. _________________ acai |

Hi shawnwilliams...
what you have stated is true but it happens to nearly 75% of people...
The rest 25% go through this, were nearly the teenagers who doesn't realize what this dreadful addiction will be a dangerous weapon against them...
But every cause has a solution...

This is a very informative post. I also think that drug addiction is more than a personal problem (psychological and physical), but it is also a social problem. We know that it creates some social problems such as crimes and other related problems. So, it is important to support them in any way we can.

| Today I don't think that any person over here leaves without drug. They are taking in one or the other form. It becomes like a necessity of life. It plays a role of survivor of life. We are now becoming addiction because of non tolerance. If we can tolerate a little then there is no need of medication/Drug. |

Sometime it is found that some deep rooted mental causes are playing triggering role behind addiction. For that reason, most of the reputed rehab centers apply both medication and psychotherapy to their patients. Psychotherapy ensures long term recovery by eradicating those deep rooted causes.
