With an aim to provide tourists with the budget accommodation, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) has started working on its pending budget hotel project to be located near Chandigarh Railway Station. The corporation has already invited an Expression of Interest (EOI) for this hotel project, which will be set up under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) format. The corporation will also launch three additional modular stalls at Chandigarh Railway Station, in order to provide the passengers with cooked and branded products.
Confirming the project Aneet Dulat, Chief Regional Manager, IRCTC, Chandigarh stated that after identifying the Railway Department-approved site, we tenders for this hotel project about one and half years ago. “Many big hotel chains and multinational companies have shown interest in setting up this project. Of these, one company will be short listed soon. Just after approval from the Railway Ministry, the project will begin,” he confirms.
Further, Dulat stated that the hotel will be set up on the Taj group’s budget hotel pattern.
