Chandigarh,  To give a boost to arts and culture and present Chandigarh as a tourism hub, the city’s administration has organised a six-day Arts and Heritage Festival beginning March 27.

The festival will see participation of nearly 500 artists from all over the country besides some proclaimed artists.

“It was a long-felt need of the administration that we did not have any regular integrated festival celebrating all the arts in a comprehensive way. Therefore, to promote art and culture and to facilitate the intellectual and cultural resurgence we have decided to hold an annual Arts and Heritage Festival,” Tourism Secretary Ram Niwas said here Monday.

“This festival will be of national level and artists from far East, deep South and from every nook and corner are coming here to participate. Our aim is to attract not only domestic spectators but even the foreign tourists and NRIs settled abroad.”

Renowned artists like Shubha Mudgal, Rajat Kapoor, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Malavika Sarukkai and Shekhar Sen will also perform at the festival.
