Interacting with the high level delegation led by Mr. Partap K. Aggarwal, Managing Director IDS - InfoTech Limited at Punjab Raj Bhavan, here today, General Rodrigues told its members that a sound IT infrastructure has been created in the City in the Rajiv Gandhi Information Technology Park along with Entrepreneurship Development Centre and the need now is to integrate our endeavour and coordinate our efforts for optimal utilization of the facilities. There are vast opportunities for growth and employment in this sector and we have to upgrade knowledge and competence of our people through the tools of IT and education for meeting the requirements. He suggested the need for setting up a core group of the IT officials of Chandigarh Administration and the members of Chandigarh IT Cluster, to identify innovative programmes to expand our reach to all segments of society to bridge the gap between ‘haves and have nots’ and make our people active partners in the socio-economic change.
Assuring transparent, accountable and responsive system of Governance at all levels, General Rodrigues emphasized that the Corporate Sector must adopt a pro-active approach to empower less privileged people through entrepreneurship education, technology training and upgrading their professional skills to enable them to assist in the business arena and contribute to the progress and prosperity of our Nation.
The Head of the Delegation Mr. Partap K. Aggarwal, while appreciating the initiatives of the Chandigarh Administration requested the Administrator to constitute a joint core group of officers and the Chandigarh IT Cluster to take the process forward, for the implementation of various IT programmes for the benefit of the people. Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Secretary IT said that the interactive process between the IT officers and Chandigarh IT Cluster representatives may be institutionalized soon. Mr. M.P. Singh, Secretary to Governor, Mr. Manjit Brar, Director IT and the heads of CII Chandigarh IT Cluster consisting of 19 Small Medium and large companies participated in the discussion.
