The work of the The Tata Memorial Centre Hospital which is located in Mullanpur has been started after a long period of three years. Mullanpur is being developed as this is known as the New Chandigarh.

The Union Department of Atomic Energy has given this project to the Shapoorji Pallonji Group and this group has assured that they will finish all the work regarding this project which costs around Rs 480 crore with in 24 months. Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Punjab Vini Mahajan told this yesterday.

Vini Mahajan said that the total cost of this project is Rs 480 crore that includes equipment and construction. The current contract is related with the construction which costs Rs 218 crore and is exclusive of all the taxes.

On December 30, 2013 PM Dr Manmohan Singh laid the foundation stone . The CM of Punjab on August 27 wrote a letter which is a demi-official letter to DAE Secretary Dr Sekhar Basu to start the work of this project as soon as possible.

There is no state-of-the-art cancer setup in this region so it is an important and urgent need to make this facility available as well as operational. CM has requested the DAE Secretary that start the work of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre at the Medicity in Mullanpur . So that this facility will be available in reality and services can be started early.

50-acre land has been allotted to the TMC by the government of Punjab on which a world-class cancer institute will be established. Already the TMC undertaking cancer management in Punjab and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital located in Sangrur has made functional. Support to cancer patients has been provided at a very affordable cost.
