Amit Shah to attend Anandpur Sahib celebrations
ANANDPUR SAHIB: Two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi cancelled his plan to participate in the 350th foundation year celebrations of Anandpur Sahib, BJP’s state leadership said that the party’s national president Amit Shah will attend the ceremony along with Union minister of home affairs Rajnath Singh and several other senior BJP leaders on June 19.
Besides senior BJP leaders and religious figures Baba Ramdev and Shri Shankaracharya, national secretary of Vishav Hindu Parishad Dinesh Kumar will also attend the function. Sources said Union minister for roads transport and highways Nitin Gadkari will also mark his presence. Confirmation of Shah’s visit came hours before beginning of the three-day celebrations on Wednesday. Shah and Dinesh Kumar’s visit to Anandpur Sahib was confirmed by senior Punjab BJP leader and Punjab cabinet minister Madan Mohan Mittal, who is also MLA from the city. However,
a senior official of Punjab government, who is a member of the reception committee, however, said, “Although no (official) programme has been received yet, information is that he is coming.”
Meanwhile, Punjab chief secretary Sarvesh Kaushal said governor of Chhattisgarh Balramji Dass Tandon, governeor of Punjab Kaptan Singh Solanki and chief ministers of Rajasthan and Haryana, Vasundhara Raje and Manohar Lal Khattar, respectively, will also attend the event.
