ABVP supporter thrashed by youths in Sector 15 market

An ABVP supporter, Mehak Veer Sandhu, who is not a student of Panjab University (PU), was attacked by a few unidentified youths near the Sector 15 market opposite to the PU Gate Number 2 on Monday night. He received two stitches on his head.The victim was admitted to Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16. An eyewitness said Sandhu was participating in the protest organised by the PUSU and the ABVP at the PU Gate Number 2 when the police nabbed him and made him sit in a vehicle.Sandhu managed to give the police a slip and fled towards the Sector 15 market where a few youths thrashed him. The youths fled away from the spot.Sources claimed that the members of a rival student organisation attacked him.The police have started an investigation in the matter. The police was yet to register a case till the filing of the report. The security at the gates of the university were beefed up following the incident.
