Kulwant group to play kingmaker

The Punjab and Haryana high court's decision of clearing the way for mayoral polls has triggered hectic political activity among parties for selecting the first mayor of Mohali.The key to the post would remain in the hands of colonizer Kulwant Singh, the rebel Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate, who had contested and won as an independent candidate and claims to have 10 independent councillors with him. None of the parties managed to get a clear majority in the 50-member house in elections on February 24.While SAD-BJP combine has 22 seats, Congress 14 and 13 seats were with the independents.
