Section 144 of CrPC imposed around Mohali MC building

Following the Punjab and Haryana High Court directions in regard to the conduct of free and fair election for the post of Mohali Mayor, the local administration has started taking steps in the direction. Today, the Mohali Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate, issued the order to impose Section 144 of the CrPC around the Mohali Municipal Corporation building premises at Sector 68, where Mohali’s first Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor would be elected on August 28 at 3 pm.Under the order, the Section 144 will remain in force on the polling day and there will be a ban on assembly of five or more persons within the distance of 500 metre around the MC building.
