The airport was now set to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister but no employment had been provided to any resident of the area. They said 304 acre of the village had been acquired in 2008 for the airport . In October 2011, they said, that during a public hearing the then Director of the airports authority and the then ADC, Mohali, had given an assurance that jobs, free medical and educational facilities would be provided to the residents of the village. The youths, led by Sukhwinder Singh, said that if by September 10 no written assurance was given to them regarding any jobs being given to them, then they would show black flags to the Prime Minister when he came to inaugurate the airport.
