UT Police can’t take action against Drug Addicts

Drug Addicts in Chandigarh are mounting nowadays.  It has been reported that the Chandigarh Cops has obtained 5000 drug addict cases but they are feeling helpless while taking action because the drugs consumed by them were Iodex and Bond which is used to fix the tyres of vehicles and these drugs doesn’t come under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

It has been revealed by the UT SSP Sukhchain Singh Gill that 60% of the criminals who got arrested were from the colonies and the remaining belongs to the urban areas. According to the survey, the limelight has been across on the children between the age group of 8 to 14 years who are getting addicted to drugs, alcohol and smoking. The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) has informed that the adjoining areas of Mani Majra had become the hub of drugs for Children.
