About me

Bertrand Russell’s life

Although Bertrand Russell had been an elected member of the Royal Society since 1908, his scientific career seemed to be over in 1916. Because of his anti-war protests, he was convicted and suspended from Cambridge University – https://domyhomework.club/geometry-homework/ (to which he could only return in 1944). In 1918 Russell was even imprisoned for six months (in prison he wrote his “Introduction to Mathematical Philosophy”).

In the 1920s he founded an experimental school together with his second wife, which they both ran until the early 1930s. Bertrand Russell stood (unsuccessfully) several times for the British Parliament – https://domyhomework.club/ . An original appointment to New York University was revoked in 1940 because he was allegedly morally unfit.

Throughout his life Bertrand Russell remained a pacifist. He campaigned (together with Albert Einstein, among others) for a reduction or ban of nuclear weapons – html homework help , was the organiser of the first Pugwash Conference in 1957 and the first president of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, founded in 1958. The Nobel Prize for Literature awarded to Bertrand Russell in 1950 was ultimately recognition for his constant commitment to peace.

Russell died at the age of 97 on 2 February 1970 near Penrhyndeudraeth, Wales.

To mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, an Indian stamp was issued with his portrait in tribute to his commitment against the use of nuclear weapons.
