Believing in cutting the flab, the Union ministry of external affairs has tied up with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to ensure
availability of passports within 72 hours of completion of formalities in six cities, including three in the region, as part of a pilot project.

Talking to TOI, TCS vice-president Tanmoy Chakrabarty said, “The passport sewa centres will come up in Chandigarh, Ambala and Ludhiana, where applicants will be informed within 45 minutes of submission of forms whether their passports can be made or not, along with reasons for rejection.” More
