Professional tax is imposed on all the people who are earning salary or people who are practising a profession such as a chartered accountant, company secretary, doctors etc. Professional Tax in Karnataka is levied as per the Karnataka Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employment Act, 1976. If persons in Karnataka earns wage and salary more than Rs 15000 per month, then professional tax applies.
