Fourth Pinjore heritage festival is being organised by Haryana tourism at Yadavindra Gardens, Pinjore, from December 18 to 20 to celebrate the centuries old heritage of the town and its gardens. Tourism minister OP Jain said on Thursday that the festival would be inaugurated by Haryana governor Jagannath Pahadia on December 18 and chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda would be the chief guest at the closing ceremony on December 20.
The festival would remain open from 11 am to 10 pm on all three days. The Haryana roadways has made special arrangements for plying of buses from Chandigarh-Panchkula-Pinjore and back at short intervals.
The festival was being organised with the support of Union tourism ministry. In view of the success of the three heritage festivals organised earlier, the fourth one was being held with new activities and events, said Jain, adding that Jammu and Kashmir tourism was also participating in the festival for the first time by putting up a stall of Mughlai vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes in the food bazaar. Jammu and Kashmir tourism was also bringing teams for performance during the festival.
He said a street bazaar reminiscent of the Mughal times would be created with shops and cluster of stalls, tented pavilion, food plaza and performance stage. The entrance gate, parking area as well as the gardens would be illuminated in the evenings in a manner which would enhance their beauty by highlighting their architectural, aesthetic and landscape splendour.
Jain said a crafts bazaar would also be set up and for it, a number of craftsmen and weavers have been invited. Similarly, self-help groups from Panchkula and self-employed persons financed by the Khadi and Village Industries Board have also been invited to sell home-made products. The crafts bazaar would have a lot to offer to women and families.
Keshni Anand Arora, principal secretary (tourism and housing), said cultural evenings would be hosted on all three days with the assistance of cultural affairs department. On December 18, classical and sufiana performance would be given by Ustaad Iqbal Ahmed Khan and Ustaad Imran Khan; on December 19, qwaali would be presented by Shabab Iqbal Sabri and Afzal Sabri and on December 20, gazals would be presented by Hariharan.
