Language Spoken
Every city or state has its own local language and so is Chandigarh. Most of the people living here are Punjabi; therefore their common language of communication is Punjabi. Though people speak other languages too like Hindi and English but still Punjabi remains to be their local language. The culture and traditions of Chandigarh have impressed a number of people that is why it is one of the most visited destinations for many tourists.
Chandigarh is the home for a number of government offices of Punjab, Haryana as well as the central government. But other than that, you will also come across the huge establishments of CRPF, Air Force and Army. That is why you can explore a variety of cultures and trends that make Chandigarh a wonderful city to visit. Apart from Punjabi being the local language, you will find that most of the local residents speak Hindi and also Hinglish which is a blend of both Hindi and English languages. Nowadays even Punjabi is also combined with English and this trend can be seen in SMS which people send to one another. The youth is definitely enjoying this trend to a great extent.

Even in United Kingdom and Canada, Punjabi is their third most common language that people use. Other countries like USA, UAE, Australia and Saudi Arab also use this language.The influence of this language on the people is rising day by day and its credit goes to Bollywood. Many movies have incorporated Punjabi tone in their dialogues and many songs have Panjabi touch in it. These Punjabi songs are highly popular and also hit the Chartbusters.
Even modern families are adopting this language in their common life. You can see its effect on Bollywood industry as well. The folk songs of Punjab are not only appreciated in India but also in Pakistan and other countries. This trend has definitely brought a huge change in the popularity of Punjabi language. Nowadays you will find that many Bollywood songs are sung in Punjabi that adds to the charm of different songs. Apart from the Bollywood industry, even TV serials are portraying Punjabi characters that are liked by many people. The increasing interest of people has opened new opportunities for the Punjabi industry that is coming up with more Punjabi shows to entertain people.
