So there I was, sitting by the campfire, craving something crunchy and tasty. We had the usual stuff but nothing freeze-dried. For my next outing, I’m looking to change that. Anyone have suggestions for the best freeze camping snacks? Bonus points for things that pair well with ghost stories and starry nights. Drop your top picks here, please!

Hey there, fellow campers! Just got back from a weekend hike myself and totally get where you’re coming from. My trail mix was a bit “”meh”” too. One snack that’s become a game-changer for me is freeze-dried fruit. I stumbled upon it last year during a particularly grueling hike in the Rockies. We were halfway through a 10-mile trek when I hit that mid-hike slump. A buddy offered me some freeze-dried strawberries, and wow, the burst of flavor and energy was just what I needed!

Since then, I’ve been experimenting with different freeze-dried snacks. Not only are they light to carry, but they pack a punch in the flavor department. If you’re curious, I found a great guide on how to pick the best ones here: Camping snack . They’ve got some solid recommendations that might add the pizzazz you’re looking for. Happy hiking and snacking!
