    Rock Garden creator Nek Chand’s enthusiasm did not leave him even until a few hours before he breathed his last at 12.10 am today. Oblivious of his severe medical ailment — deteriorating pulse rate and kidney function — on Thursday evening, while he was being shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the PGI, he told nurses at Inscol Hospital, Sector 34, where he was first admitted, “I am fine now. I am going home.”

    “I have a lot of work to finish,” he said. While he was admitted to Inscol on Wednesday evening, UT Adviser Vijay Kumar Dev and Home Secretary Anurag Aggarwal visited him on Thursday afternoon around 2 pm.

    Completing Phase III of the Rock Garden was his utmost desire. Even while at the hospital,he kept saying that he wanted to open it to the public soon, said Anuj Saini,Nek Chand son.
