Monsoon advances its date with city
LUDHIANA: Here is some good news for residents braving the sultry conditions. The city will receive pre-monsoon showers in a day and monsoon will advance its date with Ludhianvis.
Surinder Paul, director of Chandigarh meteorological department, said, “The pre-monsoon showers are likely in the next 24 hours to 48 hours as the humidity level and temperatures are conducive for the same. The showers will bring the temperatures down, but the humidity levels will go up”.
“Besides, monsoon is advancing and is likely to reach the city by June 26 or June 27, which is earlier than its normal schedule (June 29). It is expected to be good this year.”
The department website stated weather would be turbulent in the next few days, as there was a possibility of rain, thunderstorm and dust storm. The maximum temperature is likely to fall to 30 degrees till June 25, around 8 degrees less than normal. And the minimum is expected to slip to 24 degrees, two degrees below normal.
Humidity levels would also increase ahead of monsoon. Relative humidity might cross 90% around June 26-27, said weathermen.
“Monsoon activity will be good in June, but may witness some deficit in July,” they added.
