An expert committee report “Drowning a valley: Destroying a civilization” is related to which dam project?
A Central fact finding committee has released “Drowning a valley Destroying a civilization” report warned against increasing the height of Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada river in Gujarat. The report says that it could lead to a calamity bigger than the earthquake in Nepal.
One of the 30 dams planned on river Narmada, Sardar Sarovar Dam s the largest structure to be built. The argument in favour of the Sardar Sarovar Project is that the benefits are so large that they substantially outweigh the costs of the immediate human and environmental disruption.
