The Mohali international airport naming controversy has taken flight once again after a brief lull. The BJP national general secretary, Anil Jain, on Wednesday said it will be named after Chandigarh, a stance opposite to its ally partner (SAD) in Punjab that is advocating the addition of Mohali behind the name.
“Chandigarh airport.” That was the reply of Jain when asked what would be the name of the airport. Accompanied by party state presidents of Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh, Jain said the contribution of Haryana for the project was Rs 320 crore. Haryana has been insisting to keep its name after Chandigarh.
