    In view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Chandigarh International Airport on September 11 for its inauguration, the entire area on the Mohali side has been turned into a fortress. According to sources, nearly 1,500 policemen, including senior police officers, have been deputed in and around the airport and its vicinity.Special nakas have been laid in the area. Nobody except residents of villages located adjoining the airport will be allowed to go near the airport area.“The entire area, including fields and villages, will be cordoned off tomorrow onwards till the PM’s visit,” said a senior police officer.
    Villagers forced to play host to policemen Residents of several villages, including Jheurheri, Kandala, Jagatpura and Safipur (all located adjoining the airport), have been forced to play host to “unwanted guests” — policemen on duty for the PM’s visit.Nearly 1,500 policemen from several districts of Punjab have been deputed in the area for security purposes.
