Tight security planning by the Punjab Police in and around the international airport resulted in harassment to rural folk living at villages, including Jheurheri, Safipur, Kandala and Jagatpura, located near the airport.Small-time vendors, milkmen, labourers and even employees of the area also faced a hard time as they were held up on their way for a long time by the police.Though most of the residents of these villages preferred to stay back home, those who had some important work were harassed due to heavy restrictions on traffic movement.Residents of Jheurheri village, located adjacent to the airport, were the most affected.
