Shops raided in Sector 22

The Department of Food and Supplies, Consumer Affairs and Legal Metrology today raided commercial establishments in Sector 22.Danish Ashraf, Additional Director, Food and Supplies, said after the merger of the Legal Metrology Department with the Food and Supplies Department, raids were being conducted.
A team of inspectors carried out surprise checks at the Sector 22-D market and a total of 21 shops, including cloth stores, dry fruit shops, confectioners, jewellery and sweetmeat shops were inspected.
Under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, challans amounting to Rs 5,000 each were issued to the erring shopkeepers. A total of three challans were issued.At Gulati Textiles, SCF 10, Sector 22-D, two cloth measuring scales were seized. The other shops that were penalised are Durga Bhujia Bhandar and Gulati Edition.
