UT administration’s chandigarh election wing on Wednesday fixed April 7 as the last date for applying for voter identity cards in the city. hose who do not apply for the card within the stipulated time, won’t be able to caste their votes on May 13. However, their applications will be accepted. Names of people, who apply in time, will be included on the supplementary list.

The development has come following a fresh directive from Election Commission of India to the election wing of the UT administration. UT deputy comissioner, who is also the returning officer, said, “We have started work in this regard.” Over 4.83 lakh voters have registered with the election wing. Political parties have also started helping the people in getting their voter identity cards made
