Congress has no issues on which to seek votes

Former Member of Parliament and BJP candidate for the lone Chandigarh parliamentary seat, Satya Pal Jain, said here over the weekend that the Congress had no issues whatsoever on which to seek votes from the electorate.

Talking to media persons, Mr. Jain alleged that the UPA regime at the Centre had failed on all fronts. The Union Government had failed to check terrorism, unemployment and inflation, he said.

Hitting out at the local Congress MP and Union Minister of State for Finance Pawan Kumar Bansal, Mr. Jain charged that he had failed to get “palpable” financial support from the Centre for development of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, which was also the capital of Haryana and Punjab.

Interestingly, Chandigarh is once again going to witness a triangular contest among stalwarts — Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal, Mr. Jain, and former Union Minister Harmohan Dhawan.
