On the day of Indian organ donation PGIMER has good news to split. This hospital was selected as Regional Organ and Tissue Transplantation Organization (ROTTO) by the union Ministry of health, has now received money, more than one crore, to start the project.
The director of PGIMER, Dr YK Chawla said the centre, which would become processed in four to five months, would enhance the organ sharing programme across the Northern region. He also explained that a sum of money more than a crore from the Health Ministry.
A centre will be set up on the sixth floor of the Research Block-B within two or three months. To encourage people for organ sharing the union ministry of health and family welfare has set up National Organ and Tissue Transplantation Organization (NOTTO) at Safdarjun, New Delhi.
The different five Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organizations (ROTTO) help NOTTO to maintain the database of tissue and organ receipts. The different five ROTTO are from Chandigarh, Mumbai, Guwahati, Kolkata, and Chennai. In the first month, the focus will be to provide knowledge and importance of organ transplant programme.
The staff try that more people will register themselves with ROTTO and NOTTO. When registration is completed then an online database is created. So, the scope of organ sharing increases. A Brain dead patient will be tracked and efforts will be made them potential donors.
