The Chandigarh Administration has decided to stop the private schools from increasing more than 8% fees annually under the Punjab Regulation of Fee of Unaided Educational Institutions Act. Private schools who will not meet the provisions of the Act can be fined.
The UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore has sent this for approval to Ministry of Home Affairs. Ministry of Home Affairs will refer this issue to HRD and after taking this issues consent, the Chandigarh Administration would be asked to announce the notification to implement the Act.
The concerned parent or guardian and the student who is studying in the private school can file a complaint against it if they have told to pay extra fees.
The administration of the private schools said that this is not a good idea, SC has stated that the private schools can increase 15% of the fees.
If any private school is found breaching the orders under the law then it shall be fined Rs 30,000 if the school is of the Primary level, Rs 50,000 if the school is of Middle Level and if the school is of Senior Secondary Level then it shall be fined Rs. 1 Lakh .
In case any private school who is found violating this Act again and again then its affiliation shall be suspended or cancelled.
