The UT citizens will now have to amortize new tariffs for parking from October 19 as the Arya Toll Infra Ltd (Mumbai, Maharashtra) has decided to initiate the smart parking next month.
Sources said MC Commissioner B Purushartha examined the advancement of the smart-parking project. Company officials noticed him that the arrangement for the execution of the smart parking was in its final stage and also the CCTV cameras had been set in most of the parking lots/areas.
The Mumbai-based company, Arya Toll Infra Limited, has been issued the contract, under the Smart City Project, for Rs 14.78 crore. This time, the Municipal Corporation has assigned the management of the public parking tracts to one company instead of small contractors who have failed to live up to the expectation of the inhabitants.
Sandeep Vohra, one of the project directors of the Arya Toll Infra Limited, said the new charges would be charged after the complete infrastructure was emplaced at the parking lots. He also said the smart parking would be prepared by next month and the new tariffs would be implemented from October 19. For two-wheelers, the new charges would be Rs 5 per entry for 4 hours and then Rs 5 for every 2 hours thereafter and for four-wheelers, Rs 10 for per entry for 4 hours then Rs 5 for every 2 hours thereafter.
