The Chandigarh administration has got a grant of Rs 120 million from the central govern said here Thursday.
The administration has launched a project called Development
of Chandigarh as a Tourist Destination to develop the tourist potential of the city using the government grant, the administration spokesperson said.
“This project has been initiated under the supervision of Ram
Niwas, home and tourism secretary of Chandigarh. The administration has also decided on the allocation of granted money for different projects,” the official said.
He added that Rs 39 million would be spent for the development of Botanical Garden, Patiali-Ki-Rao lake and forest area near Sarangpur village.
The administration is also planning to build tree-top-huts in the Botanical Garden and a tourist rest house near Patiali-Ki-Rao forest range.
