Today, The Punjab Governor, V.P. Singh Badnore and Kirron Kher, the Parliament Member of Chandigarh city launched the first series of projects under the Smart City Mission on the second commemoration of the Smart City Mission introduced by the Ministry for Urban Development on June 25, 2015.Parimal Rai, Adviser to the Administrator, Mayor, Anurag Aggarwal, Home Secretary, Kavita Singh, CEO, Asha Kumari Jaswal Chandigarh Smart City Ltd-cum-Commissioner and MC, were amid the officers present on the ceremony. The following projects were launched.
Dedicated Cycle Pathways
The Administration plans to build 90-km cycle pathway in City at a cost of Rs 18 crore. The work on a 9.2-km cycle pathway on Vigyan Path has been completed and opened to the populace while work is in progress in the remaining sector The total amount provoked on this cycle pathway was approximately Rs 1.40 crore. The remaining project work is expected to be finished by December 2017.
Smart City Process Center Placed At PEC:
The Smart City Operations Center at PEC involves a state-of-the-art integrated command control center for smart analysis and artificial intelligence-enabled solutions. This stage will act as an Urban Observatory and has a unified smart city solutions such as water SCADA, solid waste management, mechanized cleaning of roads, bus transport and a citizens’ doorways.
Subway Attaching Rose Garden & Sector 17:
The approximate cost of an underpass bridging Rose Garden in Sector 16 to the Sector 17 Plaza on Jan Marg is Rs 7 crore. The building work shall be accomplished within nine months. The pedestrian underpass linking North Plaza, Sector 17, and Rose Garden will help join two large general public spaces and raise the footfall in Sector 17.
